Junior School
|
The Junior Years of schooling are a crucial time in the development of a student’s social and intellectual growth. It is a time when students learn many of the skills that form the building blocks of future learning. It is a time when they learn to appropriately interact with others. Alphington Grammar School provides a broad curriculum, focusing on all Key Learning Areas and highlighting the basic building blocks of literacy and numeracy skills. |

Our Junior School provides a nurturing and enriching environment in which students can thrive. In the Junior School we encourage all students to develop their talents and capacities (including academic, creative and sporting) to their utmost potential and so to achieve their personal best in all fields. We ask our students to strive to do the best they can. The Junior School curriculum aims to build the foundations for future learning, but also to nurture creativity, confidence and a student’s desire to “have a go”.

The Junior School operates two streams at every year level. Each class has a homeroom (class) teacher who is responsible for the day to day welfare of each child in their care. They liase with their Co-ordinator and Directors of School, when necessary, to ensure that every child is offered the best opportunities for growth and development.
In the Junior School there are specialist subject teachers for Greek, Physical Education and Sport and Music. As well as specialist teachers, students also come into contact with the staff in the Educational Resource Centre (ERC – our Library).
