Congratulations Class of 2017
It is with great pleasure that we announce to the school community that the class of 2017 has again lifted the bar and achieved an excellent set of results which constitutes an increase for each of the last 3 consecutive years.
A Summary of the Results:
|Median Study Score||32|
|Average Study Score||32|
|40+ Results (Year 12)||14%|
Our students have performed extremely well achieving a median Study Score of 32 for the year. Added to this, almost half the student cohort achieved a study score over 80. An outstanding result by nay measure.
Well done, Class of 2017. The Dux for this year was Rajesh Varghese who scored an outstanding ATAR of 99.35. Rajesh has ended up in the top 1% of all students in the State while Georgia Lazarakis, Demitra Lazarakis, Yulin (Rebecca) Liang, Zijun (Katherine) Hu, Catherine Zissis, Jianfan (William) Huo, Tianze (Matthew) Liu, Stephanie Houdalakis, Xenophon Papailiadis, Aiden Lucas and Tiancheng (Grady) Chen have all ended up in the top 10% of all students in the State. This is a remarkable achievement given that Alphington Grammar School is an open entry, non-selective school with a smaller than average cohort.
We have achieved 40+ scores in a range of subjects including: English, Psychology, Media Studies, Greek, Maths Methods, Literature, Legal Studies, Chinese First language, Health and Human Development, Business Management and Biology; 48% of our students achieved an ATAR of 80 or above, while 18% achieved an ATAR of 90 or above placing Alphington Grammar School 10% above the state’s average ATAR.
The results for 2017 are a culmination of hard work over many years. We congratulate the students for their hard work and perseverance. We thank our teachers for their commitment and dedication to the students of the school. This set of results should give students in lower year levels the self-belief to set their goals higher and aspire for excellence.
To all the Year 12 students of 2017 we offer our heartfelt congratulations and wish you every success for the future. The results show that our school has provided you with a solid foundation for the rest of your lives. We wish you all every success in whatever you pursue.
