The Pre-Prep program at Alphington is designed to provide 4 year olds with an introduction to the skills and abilities to begin their formal schooling in Prep as prepared as possible.
As the year progresses the program is structured to enable children to develop school readiness and to facilitate a smooth transition into their Prep year. Opportunities to develop learning dispositions such as curiosity, persistence, confidence and resilience are built into the program and an equal emphasis placed on social and emotional development rather than just skill acquisition.
Pre-Prep children develop a sense of belonging to the school community through their participation in a wide range of school events throughout the year. They also undertake a transition program that sees all children participate in language arts activities in a Prep classroom with a Prep teacher for several sessions in the last term of the year.
