Early Learning Centre
Alphington Grammar School’s ELC is a nurturing and supportive environment where three and four year olds can grow and develop their love of learning and foster their natural curiosity.
Our ELC students are given all the right tools for a smooth and gradual transition into the more formal world of education.
- Play based educational and developmental program
- Highly experienced educators
- Our ELC students learn to explore their world, respect others, make new friends, share ideas and embrace creativity.
- Combination of indoor and outdoor learning spaces
The ELC program at Alphington is designed to provide 4 year old’s with an introduction to the skills and abilities to begin their formal schooling in Prep as prepared as possible.
Our program is structured to enable children to develop school readiness and to facilitate a smooth transition into their Prep year. Opportunities to develop learning dispositions such as curiosity, persistence, confidence and resilience are built into the program and an equal emphasis is placed on social and emotional development to complement skill acquisition.
ELC children develop a sense of belonging to the school community through participation in a wide range of school events and activities throughout the year. They also undertake a transition program that sees all children participate in language arts activities in a Prep classroom, with a Prep teacher for several sessions in the final term of the year.
